Privacy Policy

Who controls your data

The data controller is SunForest BV, a company registered in Belgium (enterprise number 0792.393.691). The GDPR requires you to know who holds your data and how to reach them. To ask what we hold, to correct it, or to have it deleted, email admin@edoquest.com.

What we store

Your display name, your study progress (which items you've reviewed, when, and how well, which is what makes the app work), and your in-game state (companion, gear, journey, streak), plus the email address you sign in with.

Where it lives

All data is stored in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany), on hosting and database services acting as our processors. Nothing you store with us - your account, your reviews, your progress - is transferred outside the EU. We use one strictly-necessary cookie to keep you signed in, your browser's local storage to make reviews work offline and to remember your answer about advertising, and, only with your permission, the advertising cookie described below.

We count page views and a handful of events (an account created, an invite copied), so we can tell whether anyone is finding us and whether the app works. That counter sets no cookie, records nothing that identifies you, and cannot follow you to any other site.

Separately, we advertise. If you allow it, a Google Ads cookie records that you arrived from a particular ad, and if you then make an account we tell Google that the ad worked. That is the whole of it: which ad, and whether it led to a signup. Google is in the United States, so allowing this sends that much outside the EU.

In the EU, the UK and Switzerland nothing is stored until you answer the question at the bottom of the screen, and refusing costs you nothing at all: every part of the app works the same either way, and we never ask twice. Elsewhere the cookie is set on arrival, as local law allows. You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which puts the question back.

What we do not do, and will not: sell your data, hand any advertiser your email address or your name, build a profile of you across other people's websites, or let an advertising network see anything you do inside the app. Nothing you study, answer, collect or write is ever shared for advertising.

One exception, and it is on the front page only: the film there is hosted by YouTube, so opening edoquest.com while signed out asks Google's servers for the player and hands them your IP address and browser - a transfer outside the EU that we do not control. We use youtube-nocookie.com, which sets no tracking cookie unless you press play, and the film is embedded nowhere else. Every page you see once you are signed in is free of it.

What's public

Your public profile page (edoquest.com/u/yourname) shows your display name, companion, rank, and study statistics - never your email. Choose your display name accordingly.

Your rights & data deletion

Under the GDPR you can request a copy of your data or its complete deletion at any time: email admin@edoquest.com from the account's own email, and we'll delete your account and all associated data within 30 days.
